‘The Killing’ Will Be Back On April 1 Posted: 15 Jan 2012 02:05 AM PST Now we know when we’ll find out who killed Rosie Larsen! The two-hour Season 2 premiere of “The Killing” will air at 8 p.m. EST on Sun., April 1 on AMC, before moving to its regular 9 p.m. EST time slot on Sun., April 8, Zap2It reported from the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour. “The Killing” showrunner and head writer Veena Sud recently told Written By magazine that Rosie Larsen’s murder — the first season’s central storyline that notoriously went unresolved in the finale — will be solved at the end of the second season. That means, fans’ questions will likely be answered in June. Many viewers were frustrated by the lack of resolution at the end of Season 1, including The Huffington Post’s TV critic Maureen Ryan, who wrote at the time for AOL TV:
But Sud told Written By: “Our intent was not to mislead or betray … But the bottom line is, we close the door and we’re a bunch of people in the room, and our job was, and continues to be, to tell the story that feels right by us.” Despite frustrated fans, “The Killing” picked up six Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. But will it redeem itself in its second season? |
Activists Outraged As Celebs Dine On Gold (PHOTOS) Posted: 15 Jan 2012 02:05 AM PST We revealed the decadent menu for this year’s Golden Globe awards, and the news that the show’s attendees will literally be eating gold has anti-hunger activists none too pleased. Only the finest ingredients will used for the trio of chocolate delice almond crunch terrine with acacia honey, caramel, and fresh berries, executive pastry chef Thomas Henzi told Reuters — the chocolate will be flown in from Switzerland, the acacia honey caramel will arrive from France, the Tarragon hazelnuts come from Italy, while Valencia almond paste from Spain. “It’s a rich dessert,” said Henzi of his dish that will be sprinkled with 23-carat edible gold flakes and a white chocolate ball sprayed with gold dust. “In today’s market, gold costs $1,600, $1,700 for an ounce, sometimes up to $2,000, so it’s expensive,” he explained. “We’re looking at $1.20 per plate just for the gold flakes. And we’re preparing 1500 plates!” If you do the math, — $1,800 — it’s no wonder activists are angry. Joel Berg of New York City Coalition Against Hunger told the UK paper The Guardian, “I resent that a wealthy society allows its neighbors to face hunger.” Berg explained that he doesn’t resent the wealthy eating well, but against the backdrop of a country where nearly 50 million Americans are experiencing “food insecurity,” learning that there are people actually eating gold, leaves a bad taste in his mouth. “I don’t want to bring the rich down, I want to bring everyone else up,” he said. “However, this is an irony that the people who need it the least often get free food wherever they go, but we still make it extraordinarily difficult for people to obtain government food benefits.” In September, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that about one out of every six Americans, or 14.5 percent of the population had trouble coming up had trouble coming up with enough money to buy food at some point in 2010. With comedian Ricky Gervais once again ready to rip everyone to shreds, we wonder if the award’s extravagant meal will be on his list of targets to take down. Ricky Gervais Hints: ‘I Have Specific Targets’ for Golden Globes Posted: 15 Jan 2012 02:05 AM PST The stars prepare to be roasted by host Ricky Gervais during Sunday’s Golden Globes, and Gervais continues to hint about what he will do on Hollywood’s big night. During the Television Critics’ Association winter press tour panel for his new series, “Life’s Too Short,” Gervais revealed his plan, saying “I have specific targets, but targets is a word I wouldn’t use — [they're] subjects.” The actor continued, “I’m going to do a monologue about the year and then [ding] six or seven people… like I did last year. I don’t have anything against anyone in the room; they’re just gags. I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m a comedian. I’d rather they laugh than gasp, but I cherish the gasps along with the laughs.” He also went on to say he doesn’t believe anyone was really offended last year — a notion some celebs would find arguable. The 69th annual Golden Globes will be presented Sunday, January 15 at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT on NBC! Fun Facts about Ricky GervaisHappy ChildhoodGervais has stated that his upbringing and childhood were stable and trauma-free, with a high level of honesty and openness between his family members. He claims that his family, “much like ‘The Waltons,’” made fun of each other regularly. Musical AspirationsRicky was in a music group in the early 1980s called Seona Dancing. They released two singles, “Bitter Heart” and “More to Lose,” but had no success. Don’t Be Late“I hate lateness. I hate people who are late. There is no excuse for turning up late for anything. I’ve never been late for anything in my life. I was actually born a week premature, because I wanted to be early for my own birth. Being late is an insult to me.” Radio DaysGervais took a job as “Head of Speech” at Xfm London and hired longtime collaborator Stephen Merchant as his assistant. During the interview at a local pub, Merchant agreed to do “all the boring stuff” because of his experience in media studies, while Gervais “mess[ed] around.” Ricky the Boxer? In 2002, Gervais took part in a charity boxing match against entrepreneur Grant Bovey. The fight was televised by the BBC, and Gervais came out on top in a split decision. The comedian later said that the experience was the “most difficult thing” he had ever done. Author, Author!Gervais released a children’s book called “Flanimals” in 2004. The sequel, “More Flanimals,” was released in 2005. To Be or Not to Be…Ricky has a degree in philosophy. Spiders… Ack!Gervais suffers from arachnophobia. ‘Life’s Too Short’In his BBC series “Life’s Too Short,” Gervais, Stephen Merchant and actor Warwick Davis make serious guy Liam Neeson a funny dude. Watch! Gollum, Schmollum[On the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy]: “I don’t like all this stupid Gollum begat Wobblo and the Oompa Loompas and. . . . Oh Jesus Christ! There was too much “Oh, God, here come the gloodloys.” Christ almighty, what are they talking about?!”
