No, it's really not

I won't be posting much here about politics, even though this is a presidential election year.  But some things just have to be addressed, and this is one of those times.

GOP candidate Rick Santorum has been quoted as saying of rape, that women should "make the best out of a bad situation". 

Mr Santorum evidently goes on to say that any woman, even his own daughter, should resist the urge to abort a pregnancy from a rape, and to "accept this horribly created baby, because it was still a gift from God, even if given in a 'broken' way."

I'll give you a minute to double take on that, absorb it, and try to understand such a position.

I know...I couldn't either.  I find those comments disturbing.  So I wrote to Mr Santorum.  The text of my letter is...

Dear Mr Santorum,

Please consider that nothing about rape is a gift.

I fully support a woman's right to choose.
