Mr Tucker is getting tired of taking medicine. I can't blame him. He has 4 different meds. He takes all 4 in the morning, and then 2 of them in the evening. He doesn't hide from me, but he has started rolling his tongue when I give him a pill. That gets the pill underneath his tongue, and then he spits it out. I keep telling him that if he'd just relax, they would go down easier.
And then I remember that I can't swallow a pill without a bite of food.
I think that the penalty for a college player doing a somersault into the end zone should be a one-game suspension.
I stopped reading books by Tom Clancy after Executive Orders. I don't really remember why. I usually enjoy his stories. He has a way of holding my interest despite the vast number of characters he uses. I'm fascinated by his insider knowledge.
So I downloaded the book Rainbow Six. I must say I'm disappointed by it. I think Mr Clancy repeats himself too much. There are way too many information dumps that stop the story cold. He tells too much back story about minor characters. The plot takes forever to become clear. And the book is much too long.
One other thing...Mr Clancy falls in love with the word notional. It's a good word, but it's also an unusual one. Being unusual, it stands out as distracting. At least it does to me.
I guess I could overlook this stuff if I thought the book was enjoyable. I'm struggling to finish it because my Kindle rule is that I don't download a new book until I finish the one I'm reading. Maybe I'll like the next Clancy book I try better.
I don't like two games on Monday Night Football. I don't like that the first game starts at 4pm here on the west coast, so I can't get home in time for kick off. And I don't like that the second game doesn't end until well after 10pm. One of the benefits of living on the west coast is not having to stay up so late to watch an entire Monday night game.
I know it's just a gimmick for opening weekend, but I still don't like it, particularly when the first game runs long and bleeds into the second game.
Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren...all in one film? Yup. It's called Red and I just saw the trailer last night. It's due for release on 15 October 2010, and I think we'll go see it. I'm a little worried that all the best bits are in the trailer.
Still, those actors can probably make even a sub-par script enjoyable. Malkovich can do eccentric wacko in his sleep. Willis can still do action at age 55. Freeman, well Morgan Freeman is one of the finest actors of his or any generation. And really...tell me the idea of Dame Helen Mirren playing a retired CIA hit woman doesn't appeal to you!
