There is such a thing as a Democratic Party. A Democrat is actually a member of the Democratic Party.
Well, I guess if you got a bunch of Democrats together with some CAKE, some jammin' tunes, and a few bottles of vintage merlot, then you'd have a Democrat party.
Are we clear? A bunch of Democrats having a kick ass time at a social gathering is a Democrat party, whereas a bunch of Democrats joined together as part of the political landscape of the United States is called the Democratic Party.
