A summer of history

I haven't done many historical essays thus far in 2011.  That is about to change.  Interspersed throughout the next 90 days or so, you'll find posts commemorating:
  • The landings at Normandy during World War II
  • The assassination of Robert F Kennedy
  • The Battle for Midway Island during World War II
  • The establishment of the Continental Army
  • The spark that ignited World War I and the treaty that set in motion events leading to World War II
  • The Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War
  • The Battle of Britain during World War II
  • The establishment of the US Army Air Corps
  • The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to finally end World War II
Those are the big events that most of you probably know about if you passed high school history.  I've written about many of them in the past.  I'll probably find some other items of interest...well, they'll be of interest to me and my need to understand.

I can't know.  I can only read the accounts of those who were there.  These events are important to me, and being important to me, I share them with you.
