Standing at 555 feet 5⅛ inches the monument was built to honor the first U.S. President, General George Washington. In 1888, it was the tallest structure in the world, only to be replaced a year later by France's Tour de Eiffel.
The views were breathtaking even though you peer through small windows.
Can you imagine this on a bright, sunny day?
I did not know this, but the top is capped by an aluminum tip that served as lightning rod. It was the largest single piece of aluminum cast at the time.
I was truly in awe whilst inside the Washington Mounument. Since it was a day of firsts, (1st of the year, 1st time inside the WM) I decided to carry my very first Louis Vuitton, the Monogram Reporter. LVoe it!!! Happy New Year!!!
