'PBB Unlimited' Kinopya nga ba ang 'Big Brother 2010 (UK)'?

Posted: 31 Oct 2011 06:38 AM PDT

Welcome to Peace Week, Day 1

I hope you'll join us this Friday for the 8th Blog Blast for Peace.  As you know, I've been counting down the days to 4 November, first with 100 reasons to blog for Peace, and then with 30 days of Peace quotes.

For this year's Blog Blast, founder Mimi of Mimi Writes has designed a number of excellent new templates.  So as part of my Peace Week celebration leading up to Friday, I decided to update all of my past Peace Globes with the new templates.  I'll reveal them to you over the course of the week, beginning today and culminating on Friday with my 2011 Globe.

My early Globes were very basic.  There are a couple of reasons for that.  One is that I just didn't have all that much experience with doing any kind of graphics on my computer.  The other reason is that the movement was new and we were all just getting our feet wet with it.

I didn't write anything on that very first Blog Blast day in November 2006.  I had only just started my blog the week before.  But I "met" Mimi through my pal Vinny's blog.  I wasn't sure about this peace movement in the bloggosphere, so I checked into it and found out that it wasn't some silly fad or meme.  It was a genuine idea from a genuine person.  And so I made my first Peace Globe.  Here is the updated version on a new template.

Then June 2007 rolled around, and I was ready.  I had gotten to know more about Mimi and her ideas.  I wrote this post and made the Globes you'll find if you click on the link.  Here is how they look on the updated templates.

One for me...

 One for Pam...

And one for Mr Tucker...

Now I'm committed to the movement.  It is a highlight of my online presence.  I am also an activist in my bricks and mortar world.

You are hereby formally invited to participate.  Do it!  You know you want to.  All the info you need is at Mimi Writes

I believe that words are powerful, so this matters.

 29 October
"To love is to risk not being loved in return.  To hope is to risk pain.  To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing."  Unknown

30 October
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."  Albert Einstein

31 October
"One voice, one subject, one day."  Mimi Lenox

Reason 6:  Because I believe in the magic I feel in this movement.

Reason 5:  Because today's reality need not be tomorrow's.

Reason 4:  Because of posts like this one, Write on My Heart with Every Word.

So True!

Louis Vuitton Teddy Bear

Isn't this one of the saddest things that you have ever seen? That poor lil' LV bear is suffocating! Part of the Men's Fall Winter Runway Collection in 2004-2005, this little bear was released in a limited number of 500 units. It's a numbered piece so it's a true limited edition. The cutie pie is number 445 according to the auction which I have been following when it was first listed as $8550. Now it has gone down in price since no one in their right mind would buy such an extravagance. Except maybe me, if I had the cash lying around. For the auction, click here.

'PBB Unlimited' Housemate Paco Evangelista Bakla nga ba?

Posted: 30 Oct 2011 05:30 AM PDT

I want to find myself.

Parang bagay sila ng Justin Bieber (ha?) ng PBB na si Roi...

Pero malay ninyo naman mali ang mga ilong namin pero the batch of housemates this season is so promising pero mukhang mas promising yung 30 reserve housemates.

Trivia

After Jim Pass died and his business closed where I used to work part-time, the Chinese restaurant in the other part of the building also closed.  In their place a new Mexican restaurant opened, Las Fajitas, which will celebrate its one-year anniversary next week.  A few months after opening, they started having a trivia game every Tuesday night, but I couldn't go because that's when I was auditing those college classes.

Some of us wanted to go and finally Paige, her daughter Virginia, and I made it.  Teams have to have names, so we called ourselves The Bell Jars.  Not exactly sure why but that's our morbid sense of humor.  We're not suicidal ... at least not now.  Tina and Hope joined us along with Paige's husband Carl.  During the summer Brian and Brendan came down and played.  We've added and subtracted various team mates and have a friendly competition with this other team who said they were going to name themselves The Hammers so they could beat us.  Not so far!!

Anyway, we finally have a most excellent team by adding some guys Hope teaches with.  So it's the four of them, Hope, Tina, Sue, and me.  Paige and Carl will be rejoining us now that she's doing better after her knee replacement.  We have been winning or placing second most weeks except when we talk ourselves out of a right answer or betting the wrong amount.  Our new team name is Smart Aces.  That team that keeps not beating us is Nobody Likes a Smart Ace.

This is how the game works - there are three rounds of three questions.  We can put 2, 4, or 6 points on each question of each set.  So we have to decide how sure we are of a question.  Tim, the host, announces the categories.  He asks the first question which we write on a little notepad provided us and turn a sheet in after each question.  Tim announces the scores after the first round.  Then we have a question with 5 parts that count two points each.  After that are 3 questions we write on one sheet and assign 3, 5, and 10 points to.  Tim announces the scores before the final question which we bet from 0 to 20 points on.  This has been the downfall or victory part several times.

Our trivia game is Brain Blast Trivia and has a page on Facebook.  Tim posted our photo on it last week.  I asked him to take one of us on my phone and posted it on my FB page and down below.  This is so much fun whether we win or lose.  Twice we missed only one question and are going for a perfect score.  We lost big time week before last because we outwitted ourselves on that last question.  Nobody Likes a Smart Ace did, too, so they lost by more than we did.  Someone way behind got the right answer but put 20 points on it.  We got the right answer and put 0 points.  See what I mean?

What helps is that we have team members from a range of ages, some with young children, and some with various interests.  Our weakness is sports, but sometimes we luck up.  We have four English teachers, one history teacher, a fifth-grade teacher, an art history major, a military person, a science teacher, and several science fiction and Monty Python geeks.  We do well as long as we don't self-destruct.  Prizes are gift certificates for first, second, and third place for meals there.

Tina, Paige, and Carl weren't in this photo, and Brian and Brendan don't drive down from Nashville while school is going on.  They did week before last when Brendan had fall break.   Here we are - the Smart Aces right after a win!

That's my t-shirt I bought at Old City Coffee in the Reading Street Market when Tina and I went to Philadelphia.  It has a caffeine molecule on it. Such wonderful memories of spending time with my nephews, Maddie and David!!

Weather

It is COLD here already!  It's been in the 40's during the day and 30's at night.  It got into the 50's today but is supposed to be 29 tonight.  Frost has been predicted.  I realize it's snowing other places - also too early!  This makes me wonder if we're going to have another blizzardy winter like last year.

Louis Vuitton LVook-See UPDATE: Collections are released November 2!

My boutique invited me yesterday to have LVook-See of the Fall Winter bags that are slated to be released this November 1st but are now pushed back to November 15th. It must be a marketing ploy to catch the wave of Holiday shoppers since I noticed even the Speedy 30 is out of stock on line. Also, rumour has it that LV is planning to change the label "made in USA" for those that come from the San Dimas Factory. Apparently they found a loophole to skirt putting the label on. I guess the US will now be exporting LV to meet the worldwide demand and as most of you know, the rest of the world particularly Asia and Europe prefer the "made in France" pieces. They are all the same in terms of quality anyways so I dunno what the big deal is. Hmmm....well, let's wait and see if it's really going to happen....In any case, shall we LVook at the bags?
The first one they took out was the Olympe from the High End Collection. This is not the first time that LV has created a canvas and leather combo but what I noticed is that the canvas was so soft and supple that it feels like leather. I was truly amazed by this. The bag has three compartments with a middle zipper. I found the flap cumbersome but it can easily be folded inside to make the bag "open". Between the two, I prefer the Bordeaux but it would have been fabulous in black. I initially thought this was a seasonal line but apparently the LVook book says its permanent so maybe they will release it in other colours.

The detailing is very LV especially the locks.
The vache zippered compartment in the back as well the the tabs in the closure was a little bit incongruent with the rest of the design but I guess that it's LV's signature leather so it works.
The next reveal was the Artsy in its new colour Aubergine. By happenstance, I was carrying my old Onatah also in Aubergine but Artsy's colour was flatter and matte as opposed to the pop that my Onatah has.
What impressed me the most is the new Empreinte Citadine GM. I am totally in LVoe with this bag!!!! It comes in Etoupe, Orange and this Midnight Bleu colour that was really, really, really nice. The straps were comfy and the compartment was deep. Also, it came with a small pochette that is detachable. Sigh....*Francis*, I told myself...only one bag a season, walk away since it's part of the permanent line, stop touching the bag, stop playing with it, stop sniffing it...sigh. I am in LVoe!

Kelly Clarkson and Hoda Laugh & Sing Through the 4th Hour of ‘Today’ (VIDEO)

Posted: 28 Oct 2011 11:32 PM PDT

With Kathie Lee in Seattle for her play ‘Saving Aimee,’ the ‘Today’ (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) brought in Kelly Clarkson to keep her seat warm. Kelly and Hoda clicked like old friends, singing, dancing and laughing throughout the entire 4th hour.

They rolled footage from a 2005 interview for Kelly’s ‘Addicted’ tour and they both made fun of their now antiquated looks. Clarkson, 29, asked Hoda what her 20′s were like. “I don’t remember my 20s at all,” Hoda said. “You were drunk,” Kelly joked, and Hoda laughingly agreed.

5 Things to Know About ‘Glee’ Newbie Damian McGinty

Posted: 28 Oct 2011 11:32 PM PDT

Gleeks, say hello to McKinley High’s latest heartthrob: Rory Flanagan, played by ‘The Glee Project’ winner Damian McGinty.

Fans of the Oxygen reality competition show swooned over the 18-year-old former Celtic Thunder singer, partly because of his dreamy Irish accent, but mostly because of his adorably clumsy footwork and his velvety smooth voice.

Next week’s ‘Glee’ (Tues., Nov. 1, 8PM ET on Fox) marks the much-anticipated arrival of McGinty as McKinley High’s new Irish foreign exchange student, but he’s not exactly receiving the warmest welcome.

“Rory is very sweet and really innocent, and it’s kind of sad because he wants to fit in and he always has a smile of his face, but he’s just getting continually bullied,” McGinty told us. “He’s getting thrown off lockers and pushed into lockers. It’s quite sad. He just wants friends and for people to like him.” See? Adorable.

Jackson Death Trial Update: Expert Says Singer Likely Self-Administered Propofol

Posted: 28 Oct 2011 11:31 PM PDT

As the involuntary manslaughter trial against Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, draws to a close, the defense called their last witness Friday… an expert who says Jackson likely injected himself with a fatal dose of propofol after popping sedatives without his doctor’s knowledge.

Dr. Paul White said that the self-administration theory explains the levels of propofol and Lorazepam found in Jackson’s system at the time of his death.

paul-white.jpg

“With the administration of the additional 25 milligrams that we’re speculating was self-injected by Mr. Jackson, the level increases rapidly and at the time of death would be almost identical to the level found in the urine at autopsy,” White testified.

Using a mathematical model, White also said Jackson could have swallowed eight Lorazepam tablets earlier in the night, which matches with the amount of the sedative found in his blood at autopsy. “The combination effect is potentially profound,” White said of the two drugs.

An expert for the prosecution testified last week he believed Jackson died after Murray left him on an intravenous drip of propofol for a number of hours.

But White said there was no physical evidence at the scene to support the prosecution scenario and it did not reconcile with Murray’s statements about the amount of drugs he gave Jackson that night.

Prosecution experts will cross-examine White on Monday as the five-week trial enters its closing stages.

Aggressive Paparazzo Corners Demi Moore

Posted: 28 Oct 2011 11:31 PM PDT

A report from X17Online claimed Demi Moore lashed out at a photographer, screaming obscenities and even lunging toward his camera outside an L.A. nail salon, but Gossip Cop says the story was quite the opposite.

A witness tells Gossip Cop the paparazzo was very aggressive, “physically jumping in front of [Moore], basically entrapping her, pushing his body and camera into her so she couldn’t walk or move.”

The man was also verbally abusive and “completely restrained her from getting into the car.”

Moore, 48, was still wearing her wedding ring, despite rumors of a crumbling marriage.

The Voice Season 2 Scoop: More Blind Audition Rounds, Bigger Teams, Savvier Contestants

When NBC’s The Voice returns next season, it will be bigger than ever. There will be more blind audition rounds, in which singers perform for the coaches sight unseen, and 12 contestants per team, up from Season 1′s eight.

The Voice names Christina Milian as new social media correspondent

It’s not yet clear exactly how many more blind audition episodes will air — they ran for two weeks earlier this year — but executive producer Mark Burnett says the decision to expand came from viewer feedback and having more time to produce them.
